We buy Great Britain and British Commonwealth stamps:

Why sell to us?

We sell a huge amount of GB and British Commonwealth material and so are always having to replace depleted stocks. It is better for us to buy directly from collectors than going through a third party, such as another dealer or auction house. Both will want to make their profit as well. We pay promptly and at the best market rate as we sell what we buy very quickly and so pay the best price to ensure we have a regular supply. We are particularley interested in buying whole collections of British stamps.

Early Great Britain and British Commonwealth  pre decimal

We are interested in buying any pre decimal stamps. Please email with details and If you have the capability to attach a scan or picture of the item, then this will help in my making an instant offer if the item is required. Good GB and British Commonwealth single country collections are also required.

Great Britain and British Commonwealth modern decimal items

These are our standard buying terms to emails offering material. If you have anything better that falls outside the following categories then please also send details.

Mint GB decimal stamps

We pay 50% of the face value for stamps with a face value below £1.00 and 60% for values £1.00 and above. Minimum purchase is £30 face. We do not buy any mounted mint or un-gummed unused stamps. In the case of Miniature Sheets, it is the value of the stamps, not the value printed on the sheet.

Mint Channel Islands decimal stamps

Decimal mint stamps in sets are worth 35% of the face value and single values or odds are worth 30%. Sets must be supplied so they are kept in units. These prices include Presentation Packs.

GB decimal Presentation Packs

Decimal mint stamps in presentation packs are worth 60% of the face value of the stamps. Earlier packs I pay 40-65% of my retail prices for, depending on our stock level.

GB Decimal Booklets

Decimal mint stamps in booklets are worth 60% of the face value of the stamps.

GB and British Commonwealth used stamps

We only buy used stamps that are in sets in very fine used condition. Once again most modern stamps are regarded as very common due to supply outweighing demand. So we pay approximately one quarter of our retail price.

GB First Day Covers

We will pay 20p a FDC from 1967 to 1995, 25p a FDC for 1996 to 1999, 50p a FDC for 2000 to 2003, 1.00p for 2004 to date. This is only for full set covers, non hand addressed (typed). We pay twice the above for unaddressed FDC’s. They must be neat, unmarked, no ruffled corners and tidy and this does not apply to single or part stamped covers that have no value. Earlier FDC's are subject to the same principles.

GB Coin Covers

We pay 50p a cover above the face value of the coins for such covers.

Better to sell directly

Are you thinking of putting your collectiom or items into an auction?  If so, you will pay them their selling commission from you, now normally 10-15%. There is also a buyer premium normally 15% that is added to the buyers bill on top of the hammer price and is not disclosed to you the seller. Lastly there is VAT on top of both. So when you eventually get paid, which can be several months after giving them the material, you will actually only receive 65% of the amount the buyer actually paid so you will be selling at market rate but effectively getting ony 65% of market value.

Buying process

  • Small items and collections
  • Smaller lots or collections need to be sent to us. Please advise us though before sending and we can agree a price prior to sending. Please adhere to my minimum purchase values as shown above as failure to do this, may result in my returning the items to you, less a deduction of material to cover the return postage costs. If you do wish to proceed, please see postal instructions below.
  • Large bulky items or high value lots
  • If your lot is valuable and bulky and you are local to us then a home visit maybe arranged. Otherwise, we may arrange for a collection at our expense. Should you then reject our offer the goods would be returned to you.
